ST. PETERSBURG, July 27 (Itar-Tass) —— A legendary cameraman Eduard Rozovsky died in St. Petersburg just several months before his 85th birthday.
The road accident occurred on Tuesday evening, when he was driving his car from St. Petersburg to Priozersk to his countryside house. His car Opel Astra skidded off the road on the Priozersk highway and rammed in the post at the high speed. Rozovsky died instantaneously, the press service of the traffic police in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region told Itar-Tass.
According to preliminary reports, an 84-year-old cameraman was feeling sick behind the wheel and that could have caused the tragic incident.
Eduard Rozovsky was born in 1926. He graduated from the faculty for cameramen of the Russian State University of Cinematography (VGIK), worked as a cameraman at the Lennauchfilm film studio and then worked at the Lenfilm film studio. He worked as a cameraman in more than 80 films, including the Amphibian Man, The Master of Chukotka, Don Sezar de Bazan, The White Sun of the Desert, Balzaminov’ s Wedding and Socrates. Rozovsky headed the chair of the filmmaking art at the St. Petersburg State University of Cinema and Television.
