Proton-K rocket places military satellite on target orbit
MOSCOW, March 30 (Itar-Tass) — The Proton-K carrier rocket that was launched today at 09:49 MSK from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on Friday, has successfully placed a military satellite on the target orbit.
Spokesman for the Russian Aerospace Defence Forces Colonel Alexei Zolotukhin told Itar-Tass that “after orbiting the spacecraft was assigned the serial number Kosmos-2479.”
“Combat crews of the Aerospace Defence Forces controlled the launch with the ground automated control system equipment,” Zolotukhin said. “The launch vehicle blastoff and the spacecraft’s placement in orbit were carried out in the normal mode.”
“At the designated time - 16:27 MSK - the spacecraft separated from the DM-2 upper stage,” the official said.
