MAKHACHKALA, October 28 (Itar-Tass) - Unidentified assailants shot and killed
a police officer in Dagestan's capital Makhachkala on Wednesday evening, the
press service of the republic's Interior Ministry told Itar-Tass.
"The body of a police officer was found in the yard of house 27A in Engels
Street. The call reporting that a body had been found came in at 17:00, Moscow
time. The Sovetsky neighborhood police inspector was shot in the head with an
unidentified firearm. A manhunt for the criminals has been launched and a
criminal case has been opened," the press service said.
It is the second murder of neighborhood police inspector in Dagestan on
Wednesday. At around 14:00, Moscow time, unidentified attackers sprayed
automatic fire at a Volga carrying a neighborhood police inspector and a
passenger. The attack occurred near the village of Bairamaul, Khasavyurt
district.
Both victims died of their wounds on the way to hospital.
Police are looking for the attackers.
